If you’ve ever had to travel for work or cover the cost of tools to do your job, you’ll know that claiming back those expenses can make a real difference. Taxpro set out to make that process as simple as possible.

As they looked to scale their operations and onboard more clients, they needed a tool that could streamline the experience for both users and their internal team. Having worked in this space before, I was buzzing when they reached out to see if I’d be up for helping them bring this to life.

First up, I needed a trusted developer to bring onboard to help us on this journey; so I brought in a good mate (and dev wizz) of mine. Together, we worked with the clients to understand all of the requirements and scope out the MVP.

We broke the project into two key phases:

Rapid prototype. This would not only help us visualise the experience, but also allow us to validate the concept directly with HMRC to make sure everything was compliant and intuitive.

Building it. We opted to focus on the customer-facing side first, designing components that could be reused across both the customer and admin views. This would help us maintain consistency while speeding up development.
